Celtic Shark by bifishiar Celtic Shark by bifishiar
When a friend was looking for some items for his new renaissance outfit and was trying to make up his mind what he wanted, he was musing about possible coats of arms. He is a big shark enthusiast, and he was wondering why you never see heraldic sharks. He got me piqued, I looked it up, didn't find anything, either (there's other fish, of course; but no sharks) - so I decided I would try and make one myself.
Here's the result!
The photograph of the finished work isn't too good, I only made a quick shot with my mobile before I handed the cloak over to my friend, but I hope it's still a good enough impression of the final embroidery. Hope you like it!

I am finally coming around to leave you a comment!
When I first saw the digital version of the design I was truly impressed (your's and :iconkabacalyaan:'s outlines are so clean, I luv)
But the actual embroidery is way better!! Just beautiful! And creating something that isn't usual makes it even more special

Thank you so very much for the nice words - it's my first real try at a fully digital "drawing" (I only played around with simplest vector graphics and clipart manipulations before), so I'm flattered!
(Had a bit of a hard time with it, too, since CSP, though being a mighty tool, is deplorably poor on alignment functions. Doh! )
But yes, the main aim of it all was the embroidery, so I'm even happier someone spotted that! :bounceforjoy:

This is gorgeous! Ever since my stay in Ireland I've been fascinated by the beauty of Celtic knotwork design. (I've never had the patience myself to do ornaments, let alone the geometry of this kind of stuff! So I admire anyone who does.) Now, this combination of traditional knotwork with a modern subject is really intriguing. And it's true, the shark is quite unusual here, that's what makes it so striking. What an awesome idea! It must have been one hell of a job to make an embroidery out of it...
